Projekti
Architectural firm United Architects of Riga were instructed by the Estonian government to design a new Embassy building in the centre of the UNESCO protected World Heritage Site of Rigaās old town. An existing building from the 1960ās was to be replaced by a modern, functional building which would would fit well with the surrounding merchantās houses dating back to Hanseatic times.
The chosen design comprised of a ventilated faƧade of natural stone panels between large glass windows. Gotland Grey Limestone was selected due to its high levels of frost resistance meaning that it would be able to withstand the harsh Baltic winters for decades to come.
The neutral grey colours of our Gotland Grey limestone allow it to blend in perfectly with its surroundings. The buildingās cutting edge, modern design with its oblique angles complements the Hanseatic, Neoclassical and Art Nouveu designs for which Riga is world famous.
